UMA is now available on AssetStore!

UMA - Unity Multipurpose Avatar, is an open source avatar creation framework, it provides both base code and example content to create avatars. Using the UMA pack, it´s possible to customize the code and content for your own projects, and share or sell your creations through Unity Asset Store.
With UMA, it´s easy to populate a huge area with random characters, create and customize an unique NPC or even generate main characters with full customization. In all those cases, UMA makes it possible to share content as clothes and accessories between avatars, simplifying the process of content creation.
UMA has been under development for more than a year now, it started as a personal project and after 4 months Unity Asset Store sponsored this project so it could be open source and available for everyone. Joen has been contributing since then, and for the last 6 we started receiving both help and amazing feedback from the beta test group.
Today is December 25, and Unity couldn´t be giving a better present to me and it´s amazing community, UMA is available at AssetStore =)

1.0.0.6b is out! New content, save/load example using serialization on UMACustomizer and tons of small adjusts on code.
We also have ~3hours of video tutorials! Check it out.
I´ve also started working on documentation, download latest version.

Be sure to check Download page for 1.0.0.4b. With serialization integrated, now we can Pack and Unpack all necessary data to save or share UMA avatars.Joen (UnLogick) improved performance of his SkinnedMeshCombiner.
I´ll be able to focus on content creation and tutorial recording.

Hi there =)
I´m working on the new serialization for UMA. This will make it possible both to save UMA´s and share UMA´s between client/server.
Right now, each UMA element, like body parts and clothes, are kept on a slotLibrary. It´s like a repository of elements that can be used to build an UMA avatar.
We can´t share the element itself between client/server, but we can send some data that help both of them identifying which element is being used.

Unity 4.2 is out!

Now we have access to Mecanim Avatar Creation API, this means it´s possible to create Mecanim avatars based on UMA shape. This will make it possible to use IK on PRO license, increase performance and have better results on body variation.
Adjusting muscles, it´s possible to have unique characters with peculiar movement, asymmetric poses and interesting resuls.
